About Eileen Langsley and Supersport Photographs
Supersport Photographs was established over 40 years ago and working as a full time professional sports photographer, Eileen Langsley has covered 13 Olympic Games, 4 Paralympic Games, 4 Commonwealth Games and innumerable World, European and National Championships in a wide variety of sports.
She became the official photographer to the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) in 1983 and worked in this role for 20 years producing two large format books for them during this time (Gymnastics – ‘The Art of Sport’ and ‘Gymnastics – In Perspective’).
Also in 1983 she won the prestigious AIPS/Adidas International Sports Photo competition and was also joint winner of Sports Picture of the Year in the UK.
Her work has featured in numerous publications such as specialist magazines, books, calendars, posters and exhibitions.
She became the first woman chairman of the Professional Sports Photographers’ Association and also founded the International Association of Women Sports Photographers.
Additionally, she has worked in an advisory capacity with many sport event organising committees to set up good working conditions for photographers at their events.
She was a founder member and official photographer to the Women’s Sports Foundation (UK).
As well as supplying images for publication, Supersport Photographs has also set up a separate publishing wing – EGB Books UK – and to date 20 books (mostly on sport) have been published. Details of all publications may be found by following this link:
Eileen Langsley was made an Honorary Life Member of the FIG and also of British Gymnastics. She was awarded the International Order of Merit by the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in recognition of her extraordinary impact on the sport. She is also the recipient of the Nik Stuart Award and the Alex Strachan Award (both for services to Gymnastics in the UK).
